Spring Dresses

Monday, March 26, 2012

Spring is coming, even if it doesn't feel like it.  We're heading back east for Memorial Day Weekend to attend a wedding.  I'm pretty excited, especially about dress shopping.  I'm weighing my options on whether I should buy a dress, or rent one (www.renttherunway.com).  If I find something I love that I can wear again then I'll most likely buy.  Renting is slightly more exciting in that there's no commitment, but at the end of the day you've got to send it back.  I want something patterned and springy, but it's got to be wedding appropriate.  Here are some that have caught my eye thus far (click for source):

Prints or solids?  Basic or unique?  Bright or muted?  A lot to think about!

Better Than Nothing!

Monday, March 26, 2012

Guys, I suck.  I've been so crazy busy lately I feel like I haven't had a second to myself.  This weekend I was planning doing some serious blogging, but some how I wound up getting roped into watching an entire season of Homeland.  Which, btw, is pretty addicting/awesome.  And then I saw The Hunger Games (OMG!)  And then it was raining a lot on Sunday.  And then it was Monday.  I'm still adjusting to my new position (which is going great!), the people are SO nice and the environment is really welcoming.  But  I'm still getting used to everything; I'm working to balance the new job, exercising, cleaning, cooking (all of which happens on a daily basis) with veg out time, blog time, Homeland time, etc.  I'm still figuring it all out, so in the mean time look at some pretty pictures:

Better than nothing and more than yesterday.

Currently Craving: Etsy Finds #1

Monday, March 12, 2012

My favorites page on Etsy is 23 pages long.  Here's an super abbreviated round up of some things I'm yearning for, as we all know when I'm in a shopping mood but don't actually want to spend any money I blog about it or go fake shopping, or both.  Don't buy my cravings.  Or do buy them because then I won't and send me a picture so I can envy you.  But first look at all these pretty things:

Makes me wish there was a holiday coming up involving presents.  For now I'll just keep imagining these things in my apartment.  Sigh.

Eye Candy

Thursday, March 8, 2012

It was just a normal SoCal day today, with a high of 75 degrees.  Not that I spent much time outside, and I know we are so spoiled out here, so making a gripe about the weather is totally insane.  Don't worry, I already know this.  But seriously, dressing for a typical LA day is no small feat.  In normal places during the day the temperature doesn't vary all that much.  I mean you wake up, get dressed and get out the door.  Here, before you walk outside, you have to prepare for a 30 degree variance in temperature.  No, really.  This morning when I woke up it was 45 degrees outside.  Being so far from the east coast has seriously diminished my weather norms, but 45 degrees is like almost cold enough to snow.  So that's my morning weather, but the high today is 75, which is not super hot but definitely pleasantly warm.  Now you tell me what the heck you wear for a temperature change like that!

Anyways, sorry after the fact for complaining about our perfect weather.  85 tomorrow, if only that would be Saturday.  So here are some pretty pictures.  I don't know about you, but these images make me feel happy yet somewhat sad and envious that my reality is a wee bit different.  But more happy than anything else, and feeling happy any day of the week is always a good thing.  The first one makes me want to crawl into my computer screen and internet transmit myself to that room.  Is that weird?

Office Space

Tuesday, March 6, 2012

Exciting news folks!  I just (very) recently started a new job (on Friday).  It's a great move for me and I'm really happy to be on board with a great group of people.  A while back I did a post about decorating your work office here, but now that I am actually in my new space I've been looking for some inspiration to really make mine.  I want my work space to be organized, happy, and bright, but still with a little ME in there.  I've got a couple of things in the works already which are unique to this particular space, but have also been looking for some inspiration.  While for some reason I find it fun to torture myself drooling over spaces like this:
The reality is that I don't work from home sitting at a parsons desk swaddling myself in sheepskin, as dreamy as that sounds.  My actual work space already has furniture in it, so I've been scoping around town for inspiration in real life corporate offices.  Here's what I've come up with so far:

I'll update soon once I've had a chance to do a little more with my space!
